A Trade as Old as the Hills

Kerala has traded pepper and spice for over two thousand years. We still do it the honest way.

No anonymous middlemen, no blended lots of unknown origin — just the same hill-to-port relationship that's defined Malabar's spice trade for generations, run to a modern standard.

Our Story

From Wayanad's Hills to Your Cup & Table

1

Where It Begins — Wayanad's Coffee Belt

Wayanad is Kerala's highland coffee and spice district, part of the Western Ghats, with our farms sitting between 700m and 1100m MSL. It's one of India's principal Robusta-growing belts — the altitude, red laterite soil, and shade canopy of the Ghats are what give Wayanad-grown coffee, pepper and cardamom their depth.

2

The Farmers Behind Every Lot

Every sack starts on a family farm or smallholding across the Nadavayal, Panamaram, Kalpetta and Sultan Bathery belts — farmers who've worked these hillsides for generations, picking selectively and drying in small batches they watch and turn by hand. That patience is what makes a clean, uniform lot instead of a mixed one.

3

From Cherry to Container

Robusta is typically sun-dried as whole cherry on raised beds until it reaches export moisture, then milled to remove the dried husk and reveal the green bean — what the trade calls Cherry or Parchment processing, depending on whether it's dried whole or pulped first. Pepper and cardamom follow their own curing and garbling steps, shown below.

4

Straight From the Estate

We buy directly from the farmers and estates above — Robusta and Arabica, black pepper and cardamom alike — with no anonymous trading layer in between. That means we can tell a buyer exactly which belt a lot came from, and the farmer gets paid for quality, not just volume.
